Established in 1997, ACNE Action Jeans is just one of many expressions of the ACNE Family global project, a collective working in design fields as varied as online videogames, advertising, commercial films and electronic sounds. One year earlier, jeans made of raw denim with red stitching were sewn up in the first real effort to adhere to the ACNE philosophy of creating their own brands and products. The first hundred pairs (which are now easy to spot as they were poorly made on single-needle sewing machines) were distributed exclusively to family, friends and clients.

Without any advertising or marketing whatsoever, numerous requests came from shops in Sweden, Japan and the UK. ACNE Action Jeans was born.

Designed by Acne co-founder and one time employee of Diesel Sweden, Jonny Johansson, the collection soon developed into a highly directional Italian produced five-pocket jeans line. This was soon followed by the introduction of male and female fashion collections, accessories, and, most recently, a homeware collection, all with an ironic tongue-in-cheek approach to fashion.

ACNE Action Jeans is now an internationally renowned jeans brand available at over 100 retailers worldwide. Current North American stockists include Atrium in New York, Villains Vault in San Francisco, Want Stil Boutique in Montreal, The N.A.C in Portland, Delphic Clothing in Toronto, and Bruce in Vancouver.

Wallpaper magazine heralds that:

“ in a market saturated with identikit products, Acne have taken Diesel’s cue and come up with something genuinely new… potential buyers – just remember you spotted them here first.”
